Yousef Alshammari, PhD DIC
Dr. Alshammari is the Editor in Chief who leads the editorial board of UCERGY Analysts. He is a former research fellow at the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and a member of the Group of Experts on Sustainable Energy at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). He obtained his PhD in Hydrogen Production from Oil Fields from Imperial College London, and he was a winner of the World Energy Congress Prize for top 20 papers in 2016. Filipe Mota da Silva
Mr. da Silva is a contributor to the UCERGY Insight Journal and a member of the Editorial Board. He works at TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) as Head Business solutions for Energy and Resources, London, UK. He has 12 years of experience in energy and technology and has helped several organizations embracing digital transformational journeys to improve their operations and tackle new opportunities. His expertise includes Digital Technologies, Innovation Management, and Energy Business Strategy. He is co-founder and Secretary of Future Energy Leaders at World Energy Council (2014-2018), Board Member of Confederation of British Industries 35 under 35, Reading Jury for Start-up Energy Transition 2018, Member of Turkey Europe Forum, 2017 FT Top50 OutStanding Future Leader. He holds a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Lisbon University, MBA from Hult International Business School in Boston, USA and also attended Executive Programmes at Harvard University and Oxford Princeton. Filipe has lived and worked around the world, including his native country Portugal, and has completed stints in China and the USA.
Renzo Javier Salzar Vallejo
Mr. Salzar Vallejo is a contributor to the UCERGY Insight Journal and a member of the editorial board. He has an outstanding leadership in Energy Law in the Peruvian professional community and is recognized for his tireless efforts in the development of infrastructure and energy companies in the Andean region. In fact, Mr. Salazar Vallejo had relevant participation, among others, in wind power projects whose developments were recognized. Also, Renzo accumulates an enviable succession of prestigious conferences, opinion pieces and interviews, highlighting his interviews in Miraflores TV (Peru), HCM Radio (Peru), Telemedellin TV (Colombia) and Canal N (Peru), in which he spoke about new opportunities to invest in the energy sector in Latin America. As a result of his contribution to the energy industry, Mr. Salazar was runner-up in the 2015 LACCA Awards, organized by Law Business Research of London, in the category “Legal Adviser of the Year in Latin America” and, between 2015 and 2017, designated “Future Leader in Energy” by the World Energy Council of London. He is now legal advisor of the Economic Operation Committee of the National Interconnected System (COES-SINAC) and member of the board of directors of the Peruvian Committee of the World Energy Council (WEC).
Rodolfo Rueda Ballesteros
Mr. Rueda is a contributor to the UCERGY Insight Journal and a member of the editorial board. Mr. Rueda received a Master’s degree in Business Administration – with a specialization in energy and business – from the ICADE Business School at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (Spain) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Stratchlyde University Business School (Scotland). He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Universidad Anahuac (Mexico), with Specialization Studies in Business Law at Universidad Panamericana (Mexico); in Corporate Finance at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Mexico) (“ITAM”) and in Energy Law at Escuela Libre de Derecho (Mexico). Since 2016 he has been recognized as a leading energy lawyer in Latin America by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association based in London, United Kingdom and recently appointed member of the Royal Academy of Engineering where he was awarded with the Frontiers of Engineering for Development Prize in 2017.
Andreas Formosa, LL.M
Mr. Formosa is a contributor to the UCERGY Insight Journal and a member of the Editorial Board. Andreas is an energy lawyer at Clifford Chance LLP where he advises on energy projects and regulation, predominantly in the power and renewables sector. He has extensive experience in energy regulatory law, having also worked at Ofgem, the GB energy regulator as a senior legal advisor. Andreas is particularly interested in how regulation can foster more innovation, competition and decarbonisation in power markets; a topic which he has written about in published books and articles, and presented on at several conferences and during guest lectures he has given on the energy and natural resources LL.M at Queen Mary, University of London. In 2016 Andreas was recognised as a Future Energy Leader (FEL-100) by the World Energy Council, and since 2018 he has been on the board of the FEL-100 community. He is a graduate of both LSE and UCL in London, and is a qualified lawyer in both England & Wales, and Cyprus.
Julian Hunt, D.Phil
Julian Hunt is a contributor to the UCERGY Insight Journal and a member of the Editorial Board. He is a Research Scholar at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Austria, and a Managing Director of Stanhope Energy Brasil, an energy consultancy company. His interests include analysis of energy systems, climate change, energy price modelling, energy storage and security. Dr. Hunt worked at the National Commission for Nuclear Energy in Brazil and the Energy and Climate Change branch at the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). He holds a D.Phil in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford and a B.Eng degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham.
Nuno Silva is a contributor to the UCERGY Insight Journal and a member of the Editorial Board. He graduated from the University of Porto in 2003 and finished his PhD in Electrical Engineering in the Control and Power Group, Imperial College London in 2009. He is currently the Technology and Innovation Director of the Efacec Group where designing the company’s technological strategy and promoting synergies between 8 different business units and also with external stakeholders are among his duties. He manages several national and international multi-million euro innovation initiatives and R&D projects in several fields. Innovation management, Distributed Energy Resources, Smart Grids, Storage, Energy Systems economics, Asset management, electric mobility and Digitalization of Energy Systems are among his areas of activity. He is also the Director of the Technology School of the Efacec Academy, the corporate University of Efacec Group. He is a Senior Member of IEEE as well as the Power Engineering Society (PES) of IEEE and he has served at the Technical Committees of several international conferences. He now registers over 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He teaches at 2 different Universities (Engineering Faculty and Business School) and has been supervising several MSc and PhD thesis. He is a founding partner of an ICT start-up in Germany and a Mentor at several start-ups acceleration associations as well as the manager of a 20Meur venture capital on behalf of Efacec. Also, he is the Chair of the Future Energy Leaders of the World Energy Council.
